Anti-inflammatory activity of citrus pectin on chicken monocytes' immune response

چکیده
Pectin is a dietary fibre composed of galacturonic acid, primarily found in the citrus fruits' cell walls. Citrus pectin (CP) has demonstrated antioxidative, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory properties humans animals. In broilers, CP supplementation improves energy utilization nutrient digestibility, but limited information on its effects chicken immunity available so far. This study aimed to assess vitro impact monocytes' immune response. Cells were purified from whole blood healthy chickens incubated with increasing concentrations (0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1 mg/mL) determine working concentration. The different cells' apoptosis viability assessed by measuring caspase-3 -7 metabolic activity (MTT assay), respectively. had no dose-dependent effect monocyte viability. Then, (0.5 chemotaxis phagocytosis transwell migration fluorescein-labelled E. coli incorporation, inhibited both phagocytosis. These data demonstrate that exerts an immunomodulatory role monocytes, supporting integration nutrition strategies might be beneficial for animal's health.

Modified Citrus Pectin Introduction Modified citrus pectin (MCP), also known as fractionated pectin, is a complex polysaccharide obtained from the peel and pulp of citrus fruits. Modified citrus pectin is rich in galactoside residues, giving it an affinity for certain types of cancer cells. Metastasis is one of the most life-threatening aspects of cancer and the lack of effective anti-metastati...
متن کاملAnti-inflammatory Activity of Morus indica Linn
Anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Morus indica Linn. was studied in wistar rats using the carrageenan induced left hind paw edema, carrageenan induced pleurisy and cotton pellet induced granuloma model. The ethanolic extract (100 mg/kg, p.o.) inhibited carrageenan induced rat paw edema. It also showed an inhibitory effect on leukocyte migration and a reduction...

The effect of alcoholic extracts of leaf from Araucaria bidwillii Hook. [ABH] (Family: Araucariaceae) was evaluated in experimental models of pain and inflammation. Oral administration of 100, 200 and 300 mg/kg of leaf extracts of ABH were used for the above study. The leaf extract at 300 and 200 mg/kg showed significant reduction in acetic acid induced writhings in mice with a maximum effect o...
